The trailer of Into The Woods has just been released and audiences familiar with the original musical classic are unlikely to be disappointed by a tantalising glimpse of Rob Marshall’s fabulous screen adaptation.
Into The Woods is the ultimate fairy tale story. The movie, produced by Disney and directed by Rob Marshall of Chicago fame, will hit the cinemas on January 9, 2015. It features a host of well-known fairytale characters, including Cinderella, the Big Bad Wolf, Rapunzel, and a suitably scary witch played by the wonderful Meryl Streep.
It is a musical, but love them or loathe them, when the cast is this good you can’t fail to be won over. Into The Woods is based on a Stephen Sondheim stage production, so you can look forward to lots of tunes from the likes of Tracey Ullman, Emily Blunt and Johnny Depp. The story revolves around a baker and his wife, played by James Corden and Emily Blunt respectively, who are desperate for a baby but have been cursed by a wicked witch. So in true Grimm fairy tale fashion, our hapless couple head Into The Woods to confront the nasty witch and mingle with the likes of Red Riding Hood, Jack, and his mother.
So where do teeth come into the mix? Well, as you might expect, life in Fairy Tale land rarely involves a dazzling selection of Hollywood A-List smiles. Meryl Streep’s character, the evil witch has a lot of unresolved issues, not only did we give Meryl the perfect Hollywood smile for her part but she also needed to look as if she spent her time casting evil spells as opposed to brushing and flossing, so some disgustingly diabolical prosthetic teeth were in order.
Into The Woods is full of twists, so even if you think you know your book of Grimm Fairy Tales inside and out and back to front, expect the unexpected as the story unfolds. Keep a look out for Meryl Streep as she is bound to steal every scene!
